INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR CPVC FOR SOLAR APPLICATION
a. Installation for solvent cemented jointing

Cutting

De-burring

Cleaning/dry

Apply Lubricant

Assembling
Solvent cemented jointing –
a. Set time – After application of solvent cement, it takes some time for the joint to set, subject to atmospheric conditions and pipe diameter
Temperature Range | Pipe size ½” – 1¼” (20mm – 40mm) |
---|---|
16⁰ – 38⁰C | 2 minutes |
5⁰ – 16⁰C | 5 minutes |
– 18⁰ – -5⁰C | 10 minutes |
b. Cure time – Curing time is longer time than the set time. Curing means the joint has completely matured.
Relative Humidity 60% or less | Pipe size ½” – 1¼” (20mm – 40mm) | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Temperature ranges during assembly & cure periods | Bar | ||||||
up to 11 | 11 to 26 | ||||||
16⁰ – 38⁰C | 15 minutes | 6 hours | |||||
5⁰ – 16⁰C | 20 minutes | 12 hours | |||||
– 18⁰ – -5⁰C | 30 minutes | 48 hours |
c. The pressure test can only be performed after the joint is completely cured.
d. Compressed air cannot be used for leakage test.
e. In case of using paint on PVC piping system, only Latex based paints which are water based paints wherein the paint concentrate is diluted with water to make it workable and brush able. NO OIL / Solvent based paints are to be used as these paints can drastically reduce the life of the systems.
